When looking for a home, consider these 10 tips

1. Research the housing on-line - Check out the communities that intrest you.
2. Create a list of the properties you want to see.
3. Ask your Realtor to arrange for you to see the homes on your list, and others that might fit the criteria you have discussed.
4. Plan to spend the day viewing homes. If any area or home does not fit your criteria you can have the agent call and cacel the appointment.
5. Take good notes on each home. After viewing several homes some features and looks of the homes can start to run together.
6. Take your digital camera and take pictures so that you can review the properties at the end of the day.
7. Give the home a grade. If there is a home you really like give it an "A", if it's one your not intrested in fail it with an "F".
8. Don't take too much time at each home. Plan to revisit the homes you liked before making a final decision.
9. Prepare mentally to make a buying decision when you find the right house.
10. Speak with a lender about getting a pre-approval letter. Bring your check book for a deposit check. You will need these for any offer you make.

What is a REO? REO stands for "real estate owned." When a bank forecloses on a mortgage, or when the bank takes back a homeowner's property by way of a deed in lieu of foreclosure the bank owns that property, and it is called REO. Most banks do not want to own REO properties because it impacts on their financial status, and more importantly they have to start paying insurance and real estate tax.
